Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 22: The North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) erupted into a frenzy of activity as Smt. Idashisha Nongrang, IPS, Director General of Police, Meghalaya, took the salute of 68 freshly minted police officers, including 42 Deputy Superintendents, 1 Cadet Inspector, and 25 Cadet Sub-Inspectors/Asstt Sub-Inspectors.
These elite officers, hailing from Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim, have survived a grueling 50-week training odyssey, mastering the art of Police Science, Legal Studies, and Social Science, alongside outdoor thrills like Drill, Weapons Training, and Physical Efficiency.
But NEPA’s reputation as a powerhouse of excellence extends far beyond India’s borders – the Academy also trains top cops from Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Bhutan, earning its stripes as a global leader in police training. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and cutting-edge techniques, NEPA has won the Union Home Minister’s Trophy for Police Training in 2015-16 and 2021-22, and proudly sports the “UTKRISHT” accreditation.
As the young officers took their oath, administered by Ms. Kavita Jalan, IPS, Director, NEPA, the air was electric with anticipation. Smt. Idashisha Nongrang congratulated the trainees, handing out trophies and medals for outstanding performance, while the NEPA and BSF bands treated the crowd to a heart-stopping display.
Led by Dipendra Adhikari, DySP (P), Sikkim Police Service, and Tengchak K Sangma, DySP (P), Meghalaya Police Service, these trailblazers are ready to unleash their fury on crime, armed with the latest skills and techniques, and an unquenchable thirst for excellence!
