Shillong(Meghalaya), Nov 13 : Lajong emerged victorious in the inaugural SSA Super Cup 2025, defeating arch-rivals Rangdajied United 3-1 at the SSA Stadium. Denelson Pyngrope’s early goal gave Rangdajied the lead, but Iohborlang L Lyngkhoi’s penalty conversion just before halftime leveled the score. Wilbert Marbaniang’s brace in the second half sealed the win for Lajong.
The match was attended by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, and other dignitaries. Lajong received Rs 2 lakh as champions, while Rangdajied took home Rs 1 lakh. The prize distribution ceremony also honored Langsning, the Shing Premier League 2025 champions, who received Rs 6 lakh.
The SSA also announced the upcoming SSA Champions Cup, a league-cum-knockout tournament featuring the top two teams from each of the SSA’s five men’s divisions. The tournament is set to begin in the last week of November. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla announced a further Rs 10 lakh in support for the association.
