Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 10: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma held the Block-Level CM Connect Programme at Amlarem Civil Sub-Division, West Jaintia Hills District, as part of the government’s citizen-centric initiative. The programme, which coincided with the inauguration of the year-long Golden Jubilee Celebration of Amlarem Sub-Division, witnessed participation from departmental heads, community leaders, and residents from various villages.
The CM Connect initiative serves as a platform for citizens to raise grievances, seek information, and engage directly with officials for time-bound solutions. During the community interaction, the Chief Minister and other officials addressed a wide range of issues, including water supply, education, health services, road connectivity, power, rural livelihoods, and women’s empowerment.
Citizens raised concerns regarding irregular water distribution under JJM, shortage of teachers, incomplete school infrastructure, and inadequate healthcare facilities in remote villages. The Chief Minister directed immediate departmental follow-up, including the posting of a Medical Officer at Padu Dispensary, review of JJM schemes for source adequacy, and power connection for all Anganwadi Centres.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of supporting grassroots entrepreneurship and announced ₹10 lakh from the CM-SDF for the construction of a Cluster Level Federation building for women’s Self-Help Groups in Amlarem. He also highlighted that CM Connect Centres will be established in all 56 blocks of Meghalaya as physical one-stop hubs for grievance redressal and access to government schemes.
The government has also made it convenient for citizens to reach out through toll-free numbers 1971 / 1800-3456-851, WhatsApp 94363 94363, and email cmconnect1971@outlook.com. The CM Connect Programme at Amlarem marked another step in strengthening grassroots governance, accountability, and citizen participation across Meghalaya.
