Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 4: Laitkor SC dominated Mawten SC in the first quarterfinal of the Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025, winning 10-1 at the SSA Stadium. Iaraplang Nongrum scored a hat-trick, finding the net in the 2nd, 12th, and 44th minutes. Ibashisha Khongwet and Inrila-i-dor Khongthaw added two goals each, while Ideibanrishisha Kharpan and Ibakordor Wahlang scored one goal each. Lavinia Lyngkhoi scored a lovely long-range goal for Mawten in the 72nd minute.
Laitkor’s performance was impressive, with excellent ball control, passing, and execution. Marbarin Nongrum’s expertise on the flanks proved to be a key factor in the team’s success. Iaraplang Nongrum was named Player of the Match, receiving her memento from Meghalaya Football Association Vice-President Cliff Nongrum.
The remaining quarterfinals will take place tomorrow in a triple-header at the SSA Stadium, featuring Na Rympei Football Academy against Bright Future SSCC at 10am, Pay For Right Football Academy against Mawlum Tyrsad SC at 1pm, and Diengshynrum SC against Jakrem SC at 4pm. These matches are expected to be closely contested, with several top teams vying for a spot in the semifinals.
