Shillong(Meghalaya), Jan 14: In an action-packed day at the SSA Stadium, Rangdajied United FC and Shillong Lajong FC emerged victorious in their respective matches in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024.
Rangdajied United FC dominated Sawmer SC, winning 4-0 in the early kick-off. Ieitlang Syiemlieh scored twice (16′, 30′), with Wansiewdor Nengnong (19′) and Arlangky Nongsiej (23′) adding to the tally. Sawmer SC’s defense struggled, particularly in the first half hour, with injuries forcing some key players to the bench.
In the second match, Shillong Lajong FC edged past Laitkor SC 1-0, thanks to Deibormame Tongper’s 74th-minute strike. Tongper’s goal came at a cost, as he injured his leg in the process and had to be substituted immediately.
Laitkor SC finished their first leg with 10 points from three wins, one draw, and five defeats. They face concerns about their scoring form, having failed to score in four of their last five matches.
Tomorrow, reigning champions Mawlai SC will face relegation-threatened Nongthymmai SC at 2:30 pm.
