Nongpoh (Meghalaya), March 13 : Ri Bhoi police recovered a cache of weapons and explosives during an investigation linked to the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council(HNLC) .
According to a press statement, “in continuation of investigation under Nongpoh PS case no 25(3)2024 U/S 120B/121A IPC R/w sec 10/13/18 UA(P)Act and sec 5/6 Explosives substance act, Ri Bhoi police recovered one small weapon, several gelatin sticks, detonators and ignition fuses alongside HNLC flags and other incriminating materials”,
Police also seized HNLC flags and other incriminating materials during a house search conducted based on information provided by a suspect.
A press statement issued by Ri Bhoi SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said, the sleeper cell hoisted HNLC flags in recent years at behest of Bangladesh based fugitives of banned HNLC .
According to him, the Bangladesh based fugitives gave directions to the sleeper cells and huge monetary rewards including new vehicles to carry out IED blasts.
