Shillong (Meghalaya ), Oct 7: On Friday, October 6, 2023, troops of BSF Meghalaya seized medicines and sarees worth more than Rs 17 lakh while being smuggled into Bangladesh.
Acting on specific information, troops of 193 Bn BSF carried out an operation in the bordering area of Hangaria in the East Jaintia Hills District.
During the operation, BSF party seized medicines that had been dumped near the international border, meant for smuggling into Bangladesh. The BSF party also managed to seize sarees while being smuggled into Bangladesh from the international border. The seized items were handed over to the concerned Customs office for further necessary action.
In another operation, troops of the 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya seized sarees in the bordering area of East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, while being smuggled into Bangladesh.
