Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 16 : Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today conveyed to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs that the militant organization , Hynniewtrep National Liberation Counci (HNLC)has expressed its desire to hold talks with the Centre and also with the State .
This was disclosed by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma after discussing with the Union Home Secretary and other officials of the Union Ministry in New Delhi today.
Releasing the video clipping to the media, Conrad K. Sangma said that the HNLC wants to hold talks with the state and centre in the interest of overall peace in the state.
“The HNLC is coming forward unconditionally, as well as to hold discussion within the parameters of the Constitution of India ” Conrad K. Sangma said. The Chief Minister termed the expression of the HNLC as a “welcome step”. “I have updated centre on these developments and the detail discussion on how to move forward has also been discussed and it will be not appropriate for me to share all those details at this point of time”, Conrad K. Sangma said, adding that the meeting was very positive and will take the step forward as per discussion with MHA in the next few days.
