Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 2 :The leader of Meghalaya Congress Legislature Party , Ms Ampareen Lyngdoh today said that the 12 Meghalaya Congress legislators who deserted the party will attract disqualification under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution .
Speaking to the media, Ms. Lyngdoh said the party has filed a petition with the Meghalaya Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh to disqualify the deserted Congress MLA who have joined All India Trinamool Congress.
Ms. Lyngdoh added that the petition was only for the ten Congress MLAs and for the remaining two Congress MLAs it will be taken up at a later stage.
She also added that Meghalaya Congress will recruit new leaders and members to strengthen the party. ”Just because twelve congress legislators left the party, it does not mean that the party will cease to exist,”she added.
