Agartala(Tripura), Oct 27 : Tripura Police have issued prohibitory orders underneath Part 144 CrPC banning the gathering of individuals in Panisagar and neighbouring Dharmanagar districts, a day after a mosque was vandalised throughout a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally in Panisagar of North Tripura district, reported news agency PTI.
In accordance with experiences, safety was beefed up and police safety was offered to all mosques within the district. At present, the scenario is peaceable in North Tripura, barring some stray incidents, Director Basic of Police V S Yadav told PTI.
“All of the mosques throughout the state are underneath safety cover now. We’re protecting a vigil on the scenario,” Yadav stated.
Police had to beef up the security after a mosque was vandalised and two shops were set ablaze at Chamtilla on Tuesday evening during a VHP rally taken out to protest against recent violence against Hindus in neighbouring Bangladesh.
Three houses and a few shops, reportedly owned by members of the minority community, were also ransacked in nearby Rowa Bazar, North Tripura Superintendent of police Bhanupada Chakraborty had said.
Yadav also said that some miscreants had tried to disrupt communal harmony in the state by attacking religious places, however, they could not succeed due to security deployment.
Meanwhile, all the district heads of Police were asked to provide security to mosques and organise regular patrolling in vulnerable areas across the state.
Tripura State Jamiat Ulama, a branch of all-India organisation Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, confirmed that police protection has been given to all mosques of North Tripura. “The government is working to maintain peace in the state, Tripura State Jamiat Ulama president Mufti Tayebur Rahman said.
