Guwahati (Assam), Sep 27 : Indiatourism Guwahati, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India celebrated “WORLD TOURISM DAY’ on Monday with the theme “TOURISM FOR INCLUSIVE GROWTH’ by organizing a “VINTAGE CAR and MOTOR CYCLE RALLY” in association with Byatikram Group, Institute of Advanced Management, Natural Holidays, Hotel Palacio and Luit Riders Axom with an objective to promote tourism in the North Eastern Region.
Marking this special occasion Indiatourism North East has taken an initiative to promote cultural heritage with a cultural programme by the students of the Institute of Advance Management, Guwahati.
The rally was organized with an aim to promote the diversity of Art, Culture and rich heritage of North East Region, which was flagged off by Sankha Subhra Devbarman, Regional Director, Indiatourism (North East) at Chandmari Engineering Field, here .
Joydeep Mazumder, General Manager of the Hotel Palacio, Dr. Saumen Bharatiya and Pintu Kumar Gupta, Founders of Byatikram Group, Susanta Chakraborty, Center Head, IAM Guwahati, Subhasish Sinha, Marketing Head, IAM Guwahati, the members of Luit Riders Axom and the other officials and students of Tourism Industry were present on the occasion.
During the time of interaction with media, Sankha Subhra Devbarman has urged all tourism stakeholders in the region to raise awareness about tourism’s immense potential to uplift those who have been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. He further said, “By celebrating this day, we state our commitment that, as tourism grows, the benefits that come will be felt at every level of our board and diverse sector, from the biggest airline to the smallest family business.”
The event was participated by 35 Motor Cycle Riders and 10 Vintage Car Owners. The rally passed through Dighalipukhuri- Jhalukbari- Khanapara- Ulubari- Guwahati Club and back to Chandmari field.
Besides, promoting awareness about safe and responsible tourism through this rally, the message for maintaining the Covid protocol was also conveyed.
The rally ended with a positive note of promoting the best tourism potentials of the north eastern region.
