Kokrajhar (Assam),Sep 22: Protests and condemnations continues against the alleged fake encounter killing of two persons in Kokrajhar district recently .
The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Wednesday , Sep 22 staged a two-hour sit in protest at Bodofa children’s park in Kokrajhar town demanding of a high level investigation into the incident.
Jwngsar Mushahary and Janak Kumar Brahma were killed in a fake encounter on Saturday early morning at Lungsung area inside the Ultapani forest area along the Indo-Bhutan border area of Kokrajhar district.
Thousands of student union members and citizens participated in the protest .
Several organisations, apart from ABSU, Boro Somaj, Tribal Sangha, Dularai Bodo Harimu Afad, Bengali Students Federation, BTR Sutradhar Sanmiloni, BTR Nath Yogi Students Union,Garo Students Union, Rabha Women’s Council,Bodo Sahitya Sabha participated and demanded a high level investigation into the encounter .
The students union and organisations have condemned and urged the state government for a thorough investigation into the alleged fake encounter killing two Bodo youths .
A memorandum was submitted to the chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma through the deputy commissioner seeking an impartial judicial inquiry monitored by retired judge of high court.
The students union expressed serious concern over the alleged fake encounter where two persons were killed without any reason .
The students union also demanded granting of adequate compensation to the next kins of deceased,book the responsible police officer which led to the death of two persons and stop any such fake encounters on innocent persons within the Bodoland Territorial Region districts.
ABSU president Dipen Boro while participating the protest demonstration, demanded a strict inquiry into the alleged encounter.
He said that people of BTR districts don’t want any form of violence or arms movement .
He also appealed to the ULB militant outfit and it’s members to shun violence or armed struggle for healthy environment and social integration.
Meanwhile,Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration has offered appointment letters to the kins of Jwngsar Mushahary and Janak Kumar Brahma,who were killed at an alleged fake encounter with police on Saturday last at Lungsung area inside the Ultapani forest area in Kokrajhar district.
Family member of Jwngsar Mushahary will receive appointment letter after adhyasradhya.
BTR CEM Pramod Boro today formally handed over the appointment letter to kin of Janak Kumar Brahma at a simple programme held at BTC Secretariat. Both family’s kin would be engaged in government service under Forest department.
Boro said that the BTR administration and state government have been working towards the welfare and development of the common masses in the region.
He said that chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered an inquiry into the incident and necessary measures have been initiated.
He said that people from all walks of life in BTR want peace and harmony among the society.
