Guwahati (Assam) , Aug 13 : A lioness and a tigress giving birth to cubs amid coronavirus pandemic at the Guwahati State Zoo .
According to official sources, a lioness has given birth to one baby cub and a tigress gave birth to two tiger cubs in the Assam state zoo in Guwahati .
Confirming the news Parimal Suklabaidya, Assam Minister of Forest & Environment tweeted ” Glad to share with you all that our lioness and tigress have given birth to one lion cub and two tiger cubs at @assamzoo during the lockdown period”,
The minister informed that the Zoo staff has named the lion cub as ‘Simba’ after the popular protagonist from the Disney blockbuster ‘The Lion King.’
The tweet of the Minister said , “Such a cheerful news. Glad to share with you all that our lioness and tigress have given birth to one lion cub and two tiger cubs at Assam State Zoo during the lockdown period. As we reveal this news today,all three cubs are now around 3 months old,healthy and doing fine.
Zoo family has named the lion cub as ‘SIMBA’ . ”
