Kokrajhar (Assam),Aug 13: Hundreds of lawyers from Kokrajhar District Bar Association joined hands in the sit-in-demonstration today at district court demanding early resumption of physical courts and opening of the Bar associations across the state.
Along with the rest of the state, the Kokrajhar District Bar Association staged the protest demonstration for one-hour, which started from 11.30 am and demanded early resumption of the physical courts.
The district physical court and Bar association offices are closed since March 18 last due COVID-19 Pandemic across the state.
However,the district virtual court was opened for maintaining legal activities as per the guidelines of the state government and health department three months ago, but Bar association has been kept closed till date.
The Bar Association members urged upon the state government for early resumption of the district physical court and opening of bar association offices for the people’s welfare by maintaining social distancing.
A memorandum was submitted to the chief justice of Gauhati High Court through the District & Session Judge,Kokrajhar seeking immediate resumption of the physical courts and opening of the Bar association offices.
The association demanded early resumption of the physical court and opening of the Bar association.
President of the Bar association NC Saha,vice president Abdul Khader Miyah have urged the state government to ensure resumption of physical courts and opening of Bar association .
They said that common masses as well lawyers across the country are facing severe hardships due to lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 Pandemic and have opined of early resumption of the physical courts.
They said that lawyers are doing private practices and not from government side, so at this juncture,resumption of physical courts and opening of the Bar association offices are very essential to solve the problems faced by the bar members.
