      From Our Kokrajhar Bureau

Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Mar 10: After 34 years of arms struggle ,the Progressive faction of National Democratic Front of Boroland(NDFB-P) was today disbanded after a ceremony at the Kumguri Serfanguri designated camp here following the signing of the third Bodo accord on Jan 27 last leading to the creation Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) after tripartite peace talks in New Delhi.

At a ceremonial function held today the president of the NDFB-P ,Gabinda Basumatary alias B Swmkhwr pulled down the organisational flag for the last time and ceremonially dissolved the militant outfit in presence of the member’s at the Western Zone designated camp.

On Monday, three other factions – NDFB-S,NDFB-R and NDFB-D were disbanded at a ceremony held in Udalguri.
Basumatary announced that the organisation has now been dissolved forever after the signing of the BTR accord and members of the outfit will now be under the banner of Dwimu Foundation or Dwimu NGO in near future.
Earlier,NDFB leaders paid floral tributes to the martyrs at the martyrs tomb to mark last respect under banner of the organisation.

Basumatary said that the militant organisation dedicated and sacrificed for the cause of the integration of the Bodo society as well as for the down trodden communities since it’s inception.

He said that the recently signed Bodo accord was a comprehensive solution for the welfare of the community.
Basumatary said that the leaders and the members of the organisation will now dedicate more towards upliftment and integration of the society.

It was saw an emotional and tearful moment amongst the leaders, members as well as the well wishers while formally disbanding the organisation.Junior and senior members of the outfit were seen embracing each other while respecting the decision of the organisations president under whose leadership the militant outfit could carry forward the 34- year armed movement .

The NDFB was founded on the 3rd October, 1986, under the name of Boro Security Force, to wage its movement for their rights of the Boro people through an armed movement . Later it was rechristened to National Democratic Pront of Boroland (NDFB) in the last part ot December,1994, continued its armed movement for more than three decades.

The organization withstood all the odds and difficulties through out its struggle and stood firm in its principie and was never bogged down by the obstacles it had to face during the past years. Each and every cadre and the members of the organization supported the organization’s principle and objective and supported the leadership like strong basement due to which the NDFB despite facing splits several times survived and succeeded to overcome and ultimately achieved its cherished objective by signing the memorandum of settlement(MoS) on Jan, 27 last .

The NDFB (P) leader thanked all the cadres as well as the sympathisers of the NDFB; people of all the communities who stood with the NDFB during odd days and enabled the organization to reach its goal .
“We on behalf of the organization would like to apologise to the people of all the communities living in Boroland for ages for being victims of all sorts of excesses for supporting the NDFB during our 34 years of armed struggle”, Basumatary said.
“‘Since the organization has been able to resolve the Boro people’s political, social, economic and cultural problems by signing the MoS, the leadership does not feel it necessity for continuance of armed struggle which would be undemocratic in a country like India”, he added.

The leadership by a unanimous resolution adopted at the Special General Assembly decided to declare the disbanding of the NDFB and further declare that the existence of the organization shall cease for good in the days to come “, Basumatary added.

General Secretary of the disbanded NDFB-Progressive, S Sanjarang said that they have disbanded the organisation and from today they would be now under the banner of Dwimu Foundation .

He has extended his sincere thanks to all members, well wishers and common masses who have extended support and cooperation during their armed struggle during the last three decades.
