Kokrajhar (Assam),Feb 21: The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) has denied allegations levelled against them of being involved in alleged stone pelting on the vehicle BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary’s wife, Sewly Mohilary on Thursday evening at Ultapani in Kokrajhar district.
Addressing a press Conference at Maibong House here , Secretary of Kokrajhar district unit of ABSU, Swmdwn Brahma clarified that ABSU was in no way involved in the incident and students body will never commit any such acts against women whom they hold at very high esteem .
The union vehemently condemned the incident and demanded stern action and arrest of the culprits.
He said that the Kokrajhar District Committee unit of ABSU , is shocked to hear that ABSU’s name has been associated with the incident which occurred on Thursday evening near Ultapani, where the victim Mrs Sewli Mohilary stated before the media that ABSU’S hand behind the incident cannot be ruled out .
”if any illegal act was committed by any individual or groups for their vested interests, ABSU condemns the incident and urges the Police Department to take stern action against culprits involved and punish them as per law”,he added .
He reminded that ABSU is working for unification and trust building amongst all sections of the people in the BTR area after the Bodo accord was signed on Jan 27 last.
Several organisations including Bathow(Shiva) Dhwrwm Sangha, All Bodo Women Welfare Federation have condemned the stone pelting incident on Sewly Mohilary,wife of BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Thursday evening at Ultapani in Kokrajhar district.
Unknown miscreants had hurled stones on the vehicle of Sewly Mohilary at Ultapani while she and her family members were on their way for Kokrajhar after visiting Ultapani Shivadham .
Secretary of the Bathow(Shiva) Dhwrwm Sangha Manoj Mushahary has also condemned the stone pelting incident yesterday by some unknown miscreants .
” We Bathou (Shiva) Dharma Sangha condemn the incident and urge upon the volunteers to look after the safety and security of the devotees who come to the temple”,he added.
ABWWF central committee and Kokrajhar district unit have expressed their shock over stone pelting incident on Mohilary family members.They demanded stern action against the culprits and urged upon the district administration to take strong action against the culprits.
A peace rally was organised in Kokrajhar today in protest against the stone pelting incident on Sewly Mohilary, wife of BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Thursday evening .
Thousands of women activists from different areas participated with placards which was organised by the women’s community and supported by BPF women wing.
The rally demanded strict action against the culprits at the earliest .
Assam Social Welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma also participated in the rally and condemned the incident.
President of BPF women wing,Supriya Rani Brahma has also strongly condemned the incident .
