Guwahati (Assam ), May 18 : The state recorded its third COVID-19 death this morning after a 71-year-old cancer patient and infected with Covid -19 passed away at in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) this morning .
The patient, Late Gopindra Chandra Malakar was a Mumbai returnee and was suffering from neck cancer along with COVID-19.
Meanwhile ,two more persons have tested #COVID19 + in Golaghat today.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Assam now stands at 104 with three deaths, 58 active and 41 patients being discharged from hospital.
State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted at 3.20 pm , “Extremely sad to share that Gopindra Ch Malakar 71, who returned from Mumbai & had neck cancer + Covid + passed away at 11.05 am at GMCH owing to respiratory distress. Doctors did their best. DME has reached & DC informed for other formalities.Heartfelt condolences.
