Kokrajhar(Assam), july 5: Union minister of state for Food processing and Industries Rameswar Teli today visited Kokrajhar. This was his first visit to the region after the BJP came to the power in the state .
Teli held a meeting with BTR CEM Pramod Boro and BTC officials from different line departments on the prospects of food processing industries in Bodoland Territorial Region .
During the meeting Minister, Teli took stock about the feasibilities of food processing units and industries in the BTR districts. He also visited the Central Institute of technology (CIT) Kokrajhar and Bodoland University during his visit .
Teli while interacting with reporters said that the government is keen in development and growth of food processing units and industries across the Bodoland Territorial Council districts.
He also announced that the government will set up one mini food park in BTR and 200 micro food processing units in the region for the upliftment of the livelihood in the region.
He said that entire northeast region would have 20,000 micro food processing units, out of which Assam will have 13,000 which would be funded by the union government.
He informed that ever since the BJP led NDA government came to power, in the state , Assam has already got six food processing unit across the state and now BTR region is getting opportunity to have growth and development of the units.
BTR CEM Pramod Boro said that the union minister Teli has opined for massive development and welfare projects in BTR districts.
He informed that union minister has promised for massive development and upliftment of the region by bringing more opportunities in production of organic crops and food processing units.
He said that the biotechnology department of Bodoland University is producing high quantity and quality of mushroom which is regarded as an unique production unit in the entire Asia continent.
