Imphal (Manipur), July 5 :The two member-central team, consisting of Additional DDG and EMR director Dr L Swasticharan and AIIMS Bhopal General Medicine Assistant Professor Dr Sagar Khadanga, which was sent by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to assess the Covid-19 status in the state , will submit recommendations to strengthen the existing effort to fight the pandemic.
The central team visited RIMS, JNIMS and some Covid Care Centres and assessed the state’s preparedness level, if in case, the state witnesses the third wave. The team also stressed on the facility for treatment and children and post Covid -19 clinic.
Immediately upon their arrival on Sunday, the two-member team interacted with officials of the state’s health department at the conference hall of Old Secretariat and discussed the Covid-19 situation.
The team also discussed with the state officials on matters relating to integrated Covid Control Centre, strengthening of data analysis unit; modes of testing; formulation of guidelines for those undergoing home isolation; strengthening of district hospitals with necessary facilities; coordination; ongoing vaccination drive since January 16; modes of treatments of NCDs and other related cases; handling of emergency cases in health facilities; ways of NTEP and NPCDCS-related services; increasing pediatric facilities; number of Covid clinics in the state, their functioning and specialties; post-Covid sequence data analysis and others were discussed, alongside the steps taken up by the health department to curb the pandemic.
The Central team also focused on specified testing; contract tracing integrated with surveillance and containment operation; COVID Appropriate Behavior; number of beds in hospitals; logistics including ambulance services; case facility analysis of hospitals and progress of Covid-19 vaccination.
It may be mentioned that on Friday Center decided to send Central Health Expert teams to 6 states including Manipur as Covid-19 cases continue to rise.
Meanwhile, with eight more deaths reported on Monday.
The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Manipur has reached 1,204.
In the past twenty-four hours, 432 persons were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases, according to the Health Department. Imphal East reports the majority of today’s spike with 118 new cases.
On Monday, 609 persons were discharged, taking the recovery rate to 90.12 per cent. Out of 72,718 total infections, 65,540 individuals have recovered. There are now 5,974 active cases in the state.
As per the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 1470 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 378 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
As per the latest information, 7,38,631 persons have been vaccinated in the state. Manipur has a population of above 30 lakhs
