      Musik-A celebrates Children’s day with a difference

      Dimapur (Nagaland), Nov 14: A powerful drum piece of AC/DC’s “Back in Black” by Kibovi Achumi, a 12 – year old student of St. Savior School, Chumukedima, stole the limelight at the Alobo Naga’s music school “Musik-A” initiated Children’s day celebration coinciding with the Ahuna, a post harvest festival of the Sumi Naga, held at the Rich Mount School, Chekiye village, Block-2, Dimapur.

      Backed by the powerful vocal of AC/DC’s front man, Bon Scott, playing in the background (audio), Kibovi with his artistically handled sticks showed his talents on the drum more or less better than the original drummer of the band AC/DC, Phil Rudd, which was well received by those present including the parents and guardians.
      Hosted by the ever versatile and renowned crooner of the state, Kekhrie Ringa, the audience mostly comprising of parents, teachers, and well wishers were also mesmerized by students of playgroup, nursery and Kindergarten of Little Millennium, dressed in different characters including princesses, lawyers, animals, and super heroes which was also well received by the parents, teachers and well wishers alike.

      Welcoming the parents, guardians, teachers and well wishers, Rich Mount School’s headmistress, Sentinaro Imchen, thrust upon them that children are future of tomorrow, a leader of today and that one should also respect them while challenging the students to be disciplined in order to be someone in life.

      Administrator, Little Millennium Montessori School, Kavika Awomi, when asked about the programme said that for the last two years many activities were shunned due to the COVID pandemic depriving the students for any co-curricular activities, but keeping in mind the day is celebrated as Children’s day all over in the country, the management collaborated with the internationally renowned Naga musician, Alobo Naga, to celebrate the day coinciding with Ahuna festival.

      Stalls with different games both for the children as well as their parents were also put up at the venue.
      Earlier, the celebration started with an invocation prayer by Evangelist, Spirit of Faith Church, Abeto Achumi, while the compere was CLO Little Millennium Montessori School, Jeveni Awomi.

      The children’s day musical evening also saw performances by Ekaksh Verma, Tokali, Mharhomo Patton, Adeline, Mutseno and Dziese, Akhrie Limae Atsibou Dinah, Kekhrielhouvo, Venus, Hinoto Chishi, Nagalito, Wongram, and Korean Language instructor school, Kim Jung Young, who belted out two Korean songs which was also well received by the audience.

      Finally, Alobo Naga mesmerized the gatherings especially the parents and teachers with his powerful rendition of his original hit “Kumsujulu”, and also the viral Nagamese song “Mistry Gaana”.

      He also announced a special package of 50 percent discount for the students of Little Millennium and Rich Mount School, Dimapur, from “Musik-A” to those students who wants to take admission.

      Alobo also said it was to honour the relationship with the schools.

      About MUSIK-A, Alobo Naga School of Music: Nagas love to sing, which may be attributed to the inborn love for music that we posses.

      As such, the school are exposed to a wide spectrum of music—from classical to contemporary both western and Indian, from gospel to country, from jazz to blues, pop to rock to heavy metal, and a whole wide genre of music.
      Along with these, is the remnant of the traditional folk songs, indigenous and personal to the music school which has been handed down to them through generations.

      Keeping this in mind, Musik-A was started on June 18, 2016, to provide quality music education at a professional level, and empower the trained artistes to venture into the music industry outside the state in their search for recognition and success.

      Courses offered in the Musik-A school included music education, Church music, and audio engineering. It also has Naga music archive of all the products related to music, produced/released by the Nagas from the early years till date.

      The Naga music archive also serve as a storehouse of resources for those seeking to undergo research on music scenario in Nagaland while at the same time provide instant excess to all Naga music.

      Interestingly, all the class rooms and halls have been named after one of the best Naga music maestro in the state like Methanilie Jutakhrie, Nise Meruno, Ren Merry and Margareth Shishak.

      Musik-A also manage artiste where it not only impart various training and music education to the artistes but also give them exposure to the music industry through guidance, support and opening up avenues for them to produce their music and market it to the music industry outside the state.

      It also focus on preserving Naga folk music, while dance class has also been introduced so as to provide dance classes to the interested persons in various dance forms and open up avenues for future career in dancing.
      The school also has a mini-performance hall where it holds regular shows, event, workshop and seminars in by the trainees/students as well as professionals in various fields, but also act as an avenue for the artistes to showcase their talents and skills and give them the much desired opportunity, exposure, and market their skills/music and earn money through it.
