Kokrajhar (Assam), Jan 27 : The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government is commemorating the 5th anniversary of the BTR Peace Accord, a historic agreement signed on January 27, 2020, between the Bodo movement groups and the central and Assam governments. The celebrations, which began on Monday, will span two days and feature a series of events across all districts and 40 constituencies of the BTR.
A grand bike rally was held in Kokrajhar, with enthusiastic participation from BTR Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro and others. The rally started and concluded at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr, and traversed through JD Road, Titaguri, Shantinagar, and the new flyover.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will grace the celebration as the chief guest, marking the significance of the occasion. The BTR Peace Accord is regarded as the third Bodo accord, aiming to promote peace, harmony, and development in the region.
The celebrations will also include the Bodoland Achievers’ Award Ceremony, where 85 departmental and 56 non-departmental achievers will be honored for their contributions to the region’s progress.
