Kokrajhar(Assam),Nov 23:The Lower Assam Minority Council(LAMC) has extended support to the United People’s Party Liberal( UPPL) in the BTC council elections to be held on Dec 7 and Dec 10 in two phases for the 40 member house.
Addressing the reporters at a press conference held at Kokrajhar Press Club today,president of council Rofiqul Haque Choudhury and Secretary Aktar Ali have announced their decision to extend support to the UPPL in the council elections.
They informed that they have decided to support to the UPPL for long term gain and greater interest of the minority community residing in the Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) area.
The council submitted a letter of support letter to the UPPL party chief Promod Boro in the ensuing BTC council elections.
They said that it is evident that the UPPL is getting massive support from all sections of the society in the region and forming the next BTC council elections.
Choudhury alleged that BPF ruled BTC administration had failed to work for the welfare and development of the minorities in the council region.
He said that minority community as a whole have been extending support for landslide victory of the UPPL in the BTC council elections.
