Kokrajhar (Assam), Aug 31: The United Peoples’ Party Liberal(UPPL) has promised of a good governance,massive employment generation and women empowerment in Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) in days to come if voted to power .
This was announced by the UPPL during an interaction session with media persons on the election manifesto of the party which in Kokrajhar town on Monday.
UPPL vice president Pratibha Brahma and party secretary Raju Narzary shared the party’s election manifesto which highlighted their plans for the way forward .
UPPL party leaders highlighted the points in the manifesto which would ensure social integration,good governance,e-governance,journalist welfare fund, revenue generations for the growth of the BTC region .
Party leaders promised of healthy development and welfare initiatives among the society and organizing of regular Janata Darbars if the party voted to the power in the BTC elections.
The UPPL leaders said that e-governance would be started in the BTC for revenue generation.They said that existing VCDC would be renamed as Village Council in coming days if bill allows the conduct of election in the council.
The self help group(SHG) would be given away Rs. 75,000 as one time aid towards the employment generation along with enhancement of women empowerment among the society.
They said that a’ homeless free environment ‘ would be created in the region and one lakh families would be allotted Bodoland Awas Yajona in the BTR through the gram sabha.
A BTR women commission would be formed in BTR level to work for the welfare of women and children in the region.
They also proposed that two women members would be nominated in the BTR if they are voted to power whether they are elected or not elected .
Narzary said that an acceptable land policy is going to be adopted in the BTR region as the government has been stressing to extend welfare initiatives to the citizens.
He said that the minority development and faith department is going to be set up in the BTR where the religious minority and linguistic development board is going to be formed along with 47 other departments in BTR.
They UPPL leaders expressed their confidence that UPPL is confident of winning 28 seats out of the 40 member house of the BTC Legislative assembly elections.
“We are optimistic that UPPL is going to form BTC council by winning majority of the seats as people from all sections of the society are coming out to extend their support to the UPPL for parivartan and development”,Narzary said.
