Guwahati(Assam), Aug 23 : A total of 1272 new Covid cases were detected in the state on Sunday taking the total number of cases so far to 90,740.
Among the new cases , 280 were reported from Kamrup and 134 from Cachar .
The positive rate now is 6.89 %.
8 critically ill Covid patients succumbed to their infections on Sunday at various hospitals across the state .
They have been identified as Arun Thakuria(63), Om Prakash Sharma(56), Kamrup R; Durga Bhahadur Sonar(48), Sunil Kr Fogla(85), Dibrugarh; Ranjit Kr Dutta(74) Karimganj; Prafulla Deka(53), Nalbari; Malai Basumatary(48), Baksa and Khagen Pandit(65) from Hojai .
With 8 deaths today the death toll has gone up to 242.
A total of 67,641 patients have recovered so far out of the 90, 740 cases and the active cases stand at 22,854.
