Guwahati (Assam), April 24: Assam Police have arrested All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam from Dhing constituency over his controversial remarks on the Pahalgam terror attack. During a public rally on April 23, Islam allegedly claimed that BJP leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, were linked to the 2018 Pulwama and recent Pahalgam terror attacks.
Islam’s statement sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding actions against him. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma strongly condemned the remarks, stating that the Central Government will take strong measures.
The arrest comes after Islam’s provocative comments, where he said, “If the government fails to bring out the truth, we will be bound to believe that both Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were behind the two attacks.”
Meanwhile, AIUDF Chief Badaruddin Ajmal has distanced the party from Islam’s comments, stating that they were made in his personal capacity and do not reflect the party’s view. This development adds a new dimension to the controversy, with the party leadership seemingly dissociating itself from Islam’s remarks.
