Shillong (Meghalaya), April 25: A shocking incident of violence rocked the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) campus on Thursday, April 24, when a group of miscreants, claiming to be student union office bearers, forcefully entered the office chamber of Professor Dr. Alok Singh and brutally assaulted him.
The incident occurred around 5:00 pm, with eyewitnesses describing the attack as unprovoked and cowardly. Dr. Singh is currently receiving treatment at a hospital and is reportedly out of danger.
The faculty members of NEHU have strongly condemned the incident, expressing solidarity with Dr. Singh and denouncing the act of violence. They have also expressed awareness of the activities of these miscreants, who have been operating in a manner that violates the university’s rules and regulations.
