Shillong (Meghalaya), April 25: The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) administration has strongly condemned the recent act of violence on campus, where a teacher was allegedly assaulted by miscreants. The victim has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Mawkynroh police outpost, and the matter is now under police investigation.
The university will also constitute an inquiry committee to look into the incident. The administration urges the university fraternity, including students, to maintain the decorum of the institution.
Dr. S. M. Sungoh, Vice-Chancellor Incharge, assured that the safety and security of teachers, staff, and students are of utmost importance to the university administration. “We are committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community,” the administration stated.
The university community is advised to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and the inquiry committee. Dr. Davidson Pyngrope, Public Relations Officer, NEHU, reiterated the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and order on campus.
