Shillong (Meghalaya), May 15: Meghalaya is fully ready for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.D.R. Tiwari said today. The house-to-house survey by Booth Level Officers begins June 30 and ends July 29, covering every polling station in the state.
The revision is part of the Election Commission of India’s third phase for remaining states and UTs. October 1, 2026, is the qualifying date for Meghalaya.
Prep work, including BLO training and form printing, runs June 20–29. The draft roll will be published August 5, with claims and objections open till September 4. The final electoral roll comes out October 7.
Tiwari said all arrangements are in place per ECI guidelines to ensure a smooth, transparent exercise. Meetings with political parties have been held to explain procedures, and parties have been asked to appoint Booth Level Agents to assist BLOs on the ground.
“The objective is accurate, inclusive, and error-free electoral rolls,” Dr. Tiwari said, reiterating the ECI’s commitment to free and fair processes.
