Shillong (Meghalaya), April 20: Madan Kurkalang turned into a dust storm of speed Sunday as the MRF MO-GRIP FMSCI National Supercross Championship 2026 opened its 22nd edition with over 140 riders and thousands of fans in Bhoirymbong.
The 750-metre track of jumps, whoops, and berms tested India’s best, with SX1 – Foreign Open Class delivering a fierce clash of international and national names. Factory squads Petronas TVS Racing and Hero Racing pushed hard in the expert classes across eight categories.
Young guns stole the spotlight in Junior SX1 and SX2, as riders aged 10 to 16 signaled a sharp future for Indian supercross. Local Meghalaya racers also hit the national grid, gaining key exposure on home dirt.
Hosted by Meghalaya Motorsports Society and GODSPEED Racing – Pune under 7-time champ Shyam Kothari, the round ran with backing from MRF Tyres, TVS Motor, Petronas Sprinta, Sidvin Energy, IOC Servo, and the state’s Sports and Tourism Departments. Organisers called it a historic start, showing Meghalaya can handle big-ticket motorsport.
