Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 9: In a thrilling display of football, Nongrim Hills SC demolished Nangkiew Irat 5-2 in the Officer’s Choice Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Alem Khongwir (15’, 52’P), Mebanshan Suting (22’), Bankit Nongrum (24’), and Banshemphang Kurbah (62’) scored for Nongrim Hills, while Ronaldkydon L Nonglait (33’, 90’+2) scored for Nangkiew Irat.
The match saw Alem and Mebanshan catch Nangkiew Irat’s defenders off guard, scoring the first two goals of the game. Bankit added the third goal, tapping in a cross to put Nongrim Hills 3-0 up in less than half an hour.
Nangkiew Irat reduced the deficit before halftime, but Alem converted a penalty early in the second half to restore Nongrim Hills’ three-goal lead. Banshemphang added the fifth goal, scoring after Alem pinched the ball from Mangalsana Meitei.
In the earlier match, Laitkor SC picked up a much-needed 2-0 win over bottom side Ryntih FC, with Moonstar Nongsiej (66’) and Samborwell Mynsong (78’) scoring the goals.
The OC Blue SPL 2024 will now pause to support the Meghalaya state team that left for the Senior Men’s National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy 2024-25 final round today.
