Khliehriat(Meghalaya), May 18: A gruesome discovery was made near the Kuliang area on NH-06 when a passenger traveling from Mizoram stumbled upon a suspected dead body wrapped in a blanket emitting a foul odor.
The body was found at around 7:00 AM, and the passenger immediately reported the matter to the Umkiang Police Patrol Post staff.
According to the police, the deceased is estimated to be around 35-40 years old, 5’5″ tall, with a medium build and fair complexion. The body was wearing a black trouser, green T-shirt, and a white thread tied around the waist, suggesting possible Hindu spiritual beliefs.
An inquest was conducted at the spot, but no visible injury marks were found due to the advanced decomposition of the body. After completing the necessary formalities, the dead body was shifted to Civil Hospital, Khliehriat, for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
