Shillong ( Meghalaya), June 22 : The Education Department, has released 20% of the total amount under the Umbrella Scholarship for ST Students as the first instalment to all eligible beneficiaries. The balance amount will be released in 2-3 instalments based on the schedule of release of funds from Central government.
This year marks a departure from the previous approach, where the Post-Matric Scholarship was released in 3-4 instalments covering only a section of students. The new approach ensures that every eligible student receives their due amount in every instalment.
The Umbrella Scholarship is distinct from the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme, which was announced during the last Budget Session. Registrations for the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme are separate. The Education Department’s initiative aims to provide consistent and reliable support to students, enabling them to plan their academic expenses effectively.
