Shillong (Meghalaya), June 11: In a heartwarming gesture, the Tourism Minister, Paul Lyngdoh, handed over certificates of appreciation to the local guides and tour operators who risked their lives to search and rescue Raja Raghuvanshi in the deep gorges of Sohra. The team bravely navigated the treacherous terrain to finally discover the deceased’s body, bringing closure to the tragic case.
Raja Raghuvanshi’s death was allegedly at the hands of his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and four others. The police investigation revealed a shocking tale of betrayal and murder, with Sonam accused of plotting the crime due to her extramarital affair.
The search and rescue operation were a testament to the bravery and dedication of the local guides and tour operators, who worked tirelessly to locate Raja Raghuvanshi’s body. The team included members from the Tour Guides Association of Meghalaya, Sohra Unit, and the West Jaintia Hills District Adventure Sports and Mountaineering Club, among others.
The certificates of appreciation were handed over to the team members in recognition of their selfless service and bravery. The tourism minister praised their efforts, saying, “Their actions demonstrate the true spirit of humanity and dedication to their work.”
