Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 10: The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills in an order under Section 144 of the CrPC has prohibited the use of dynamite and poison in rivers, streams or other water bodies so as to cause large scale destruction of aquatic life in East Khasi Hills.
The order stated that after receipt of information of indiscriminate killing of fish in Shka Wah Umsoh to Shka Wah Umsong, Wahjapuh and Wahjaduh by blasting and using poisonous chemicals, the govt decided to prohibit fishing under Section 144 of CrPC.
