Tura(Meghalaya), Aug 23: The Constitutional Rights Forum (CRF), which had earlier filed a police complaint against the District Sports Officer (DSO) and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) over the organization of a marathon just prior to Independence Day, has stood by its complaint despite receiving flak from various quarters.
As per the CRF, which consists of social activists, organizing the ‘Freedom Run’ violated protocols in place for COVID, with the violation being authorized by the administration itself.
“It can be clearly seen that they have not maintained the Covid-19 protocol during the event. This shows that the covid-19 protocols were only meant for an ordinary man and not for the authorities. Are the norms not applicable to the authorities,” asked CRF member, Greneth Sangma.
He further asked whether the virus had any partiality towards ordinary citizens and left authorities alone.
“If the District Administration can give an order regarding the COVID-19 protocols to the entire people of the district, why can’t they themselves follow it? Let the norms be applied to each and every one of us,” stated the CRF.
