Tura(Meghalaya), Aug 24: The FAF and GSMC, Phulbari regional unit of West Garo Hills (WGH), have written to the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) over the various grievances of the Phulbari CHC while seeking an immediate resolution to the problems being faced.
In a complaint today, Aug 24, the NGOs mentioned that the CHC has 5 doctors as well as civil surgeon that helped run the institution. However the CHC faced problems aplenty in smooth operation on a daily basis due to the lack of basic stuff.
“There is a lack of adequate medicine supply to the CHC while the operation theatre is still not operational. There is still a shortage of doctors while beds and seats are not enough to cater to the population of the area,” said Arbinstone Sangma, the FAF president.
They also added that the CHC required more buildings to cater to patients while adding that more nurses were required above the 6 that were currently present.
The NGOs demanded the expansion of the Phulbari CHC into a 100 bedded hospital, with at least 8 doctors led by an MD.
“There is a severe need for a child specialist and gynecologist. Further we also demand the upgrade of the hospital to a 100 bedded one, the utilization of the operation theatre and providing of sufficient medicines to run the hospital smoothly,” said GSMC general secretary, Michaeal Sangma.
