Tura (Meghalaya), May 5: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today inspected the ongoing construction of Tura Medical College and expressed satisfaction with the pace of work. The Chief Minister stated that efforts are being made to complete the construction and operationalize the medical college by the next academic session.
According to the Chief Minister, close to 80 percent of the civil work has been completed, and the progress is satisfactory. He added that the government is optimistic that a major portion of the college infrastructure will be ready within this calendar year.
The government is actively reviewing the pace of construction to ensure that targets are met in a timely manner. “We are making every effort to start the academic session at Tura Medical College as early as possible,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister also informed that the government is exploring partnerships for the management and operation of the medical college, while stating that the ownership of the college will remain with the government.
The Tura Medical College is expected to be a significant milestone in Meghalaya’s healthcare sector, providing quality medical education and training to students. The government’s efforts to operationalize the college demonstrate its commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in the state.
