Tura (Meghalaya), May 6: The Government of Meghalaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BAKDIL, the social service wing of the Catholic Diocese of Tura, to strengthen community-led early childhood development (ECD) initiatives in the Garo Hills region.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma during an ECD inaugural program.
The two-year collaboration aims to promote nurturing care, maternal health, and early learning across the five districts of Garo Hills: East Garo Hills, West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, and South West Garo Hills. Parish Priests, Village Catechists, Pocharoks, and Touring Sisters will work alongside the Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission (MECDM) to achieve this goal.
This partnership is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of young children and their families in the region, enhancing their access to quality early childhood development services. The agreement marks a significant step towards improving the overall well-being of children in Garo Hills.
