Shillong(Meghalaya), May 30: Retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Cavouright P Marak was sworn in as the third Chairman of the Meghalaya Lokayukta on Friday. Governor CH Vijayashankar administered the oath of office during a ceremonial function held at Raj Bhavan here.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary DP Wahlang, senior government officials, and members of Marak’s family. As the new Chairman, Marak will lead the Lokayukta in addressing grievances and allegations of corruption against public functionaries in the state.
Marak brings with him a wealth of experience, having held various positions during his tenure as an IFS officer. His appointment is expected to strengthen the institution’s efforts in promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
