Shillong, Sept 6: “Students must come first” – Meghalaya Youth Congress has shot off an SOS to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma over the 2026 MBBS admission crisis at P.A. Sangma Medical College.
In a letter, President Timjim K Momin said USTM has told parents that final admissions for state quota students will happen only after its financial dispute with the Health Department is settled.
Momin warned no student should lose a year because of a government-private college tussle.
The Youth Congress demanded written assurance for all 2026 allottees, clarity on fees with no extra burden, protection of previous batches’ classes, exams and internships, an urgent audit of PIMC’s academic and clinical capacity, and a contingency plan if PIMC fails.
“Govt and PIMC may fight over money, but students must not pay the price,” he said, seeking an urgent meeting of Health Dept, PIMC, parents and students.
