Imphal, Sept 6: A 5 hour long fierce gunfight between militants and security forces resulted in the death of 2 UKNA cadres in Churachandpur district of Manipur on Sunday.
According to information, the encounter took place at Phaibong village under Henglep sub-division early in the morning where security forces conducted a raid acting on some inputs.
Officials here say 2 UKNA cadres were killed and two injured in the firing. But the security forces conducted search of the camp for a couple of hours and seized two foreign made MA Rifles (5.56 mm), one AK-56 Rifle (7.62 mm), one Lathode Gun (40 mm), seven Lathod Grenades, 15 AK magazines, 371 AK-56 rounds, 601 MA Rifle rounds, 172 SLR rounds, 15 combat uniforms, 7 ammunition pouches, 5 backpacks, 3 combat bags and 5 pairs of jungle shoes.
A section of security forces also was engaged in the combing operations in the dense jungle areas.
