Shillong, Sept 3: Sawmer staged the comeback of Shillong Premier League 2026, fighting back from a goal down to stun Nangkiew Irat 2-1 at SSA Stadium today.
Nangkiew Irat, chasing a hat-trick of wins, went ahead through Ronaldkydon L Nonglait’s soft left-footer in the 38th minute that slipped past keeper Pyrshangbanbha Dkhar. It was the 50th goal of SPL 2026 and for a long time looked like the winner.
Sawmer exploded in five minutes. Khrawkupar Tamu headed in from a short corner at the far post in the 70th minute, before substitute Andy Mawthoh tapped in a left-flank cross in the 75th minute to seal three points. It is the first comeback win in the last six games.
The result hit the table hard. Sawmer jumped to sixth with 6 points, pushing Nongkseh (4) to seventh. Nangkiew Irat lost fourth place to Meghalaya Police – both on 7 points and +1 GD, but Police ahead on goals scored (7 to 5).
