Shillong (Meghalaya), June 2: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma held a series of meetings with civil society groups, unions and trade bodies at his residence here today, fielding demands on welfare, jobs, education and development.
Representatives from Synod Sepngi, Mawphlang Presbytery, Holy Eucharist Church, The Lou Majaw Foundation and Jowai woodcraft artist Gilford Pde sought support for church programmes, cultural projects, crafts promotion and environment work.
ASHA workers, Grade IV employees, election enumerators under MEESA and DIET teacher trainees raised issues over honorarium, service matters, infrastructure, sports and pending stipends. Bosco Integrated Development Society updated the CM on community projects underway across the state.
Later, poultry farmers, the All-Khasi Hills A·chik Federation, contractors and suppliers’ associations, cement manufacturers, Hynniewtrep youth groups and border dispute forums discussed employment generation, industrial growth, recruitment, labour welfare and concerns of border villages.
