New Delhi, May 14: Now the Election Commission is gearing up to initiative the process for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in a phased manner across 16 States and 3 Union Territories.
The country’s poll panel says the Phase-III will cover the entire country, except for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.
According to the Commission, the schedule will be announced at a later stage after a thorough review of the Phase-II of the census exercise where weather would be taken into consideration.
As part of the drive, more than 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be engaged for door-to-door verification of approximately 36.73 crore electors during the Enumeration Phase. Around 3.42 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) would be nominated by various political parties to help the BLOs
