Shillong (Meghalaya), April 1 : In a landmark move, Meghalaya has partnered with Starlink India to bring high-speed satellite internet to the state’s remote and underserved areas. The Letter of Intent (LoI) signed between the Government of Meghalaya and Starlink India aims to bridge the digital divide, enhancing access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized the partnership’s potential to drive inclusive growth, stating it will have a “transformative impact” on the state’s development. Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellites will bypass traditional infrastructure challenges, providing reliable internet connectivity to hilly and scattered habitations.
The initiative aligns with Meghalaya’s vision of achieving a $10 billion economy by 2028, leveraging digital connectivity as a key driver.
