Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 13 : Villagers in Umthli, under Pynursla PS, foiled a theft racket by apprehending three suspects who were allegedly involved in stealing two-wheelers. The swift action of the villagers led to the arrest of the trio by the Pynursla police team.
The incident began when Rahul Thapa reported his Yamaha MT 15 motorcycle missing from the Goenka Compound parking lot. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sadar PS Case no 42(02)2026 u/s 305 (b) BNS.
The accused, identified as Pyndapborlang Khonglah (26 yrs), Bamkerlang Surong (22 yrs), and Iohborlang Mylliem Umlong (36 yrs), were arrested and two vehicles, a Hyundai i10 (ML 05Z 5650) and an Alto 800 (ML 05N 4146), along with three mobile phones, were seized.
The police are now investigating the involvement of the accused in other cases of two-wheeler thefts in the area.
