Shillong (Meghalaya ), Aug 14: An earthquake rocked Meghalaya and other parts of northeast India at 8:19 PM on Monday.
The earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred 5 kilometers from Kanaighat , Bangladesh.
The impact of the tremor was felt in across the North-East region of India. Loss of life and property is yet to be reported.
The jolt triggered panic in Meghalaya and Assam, with people running out of their homes in many places in Northeast including Shillong and Guwahati.
The impact of the earthquake was also felt in Myanmar, Bhutan and China.
