Dimapur (Nagaland) ,Oct 6: Minister for PHED, Nagaland, Jacob Zhimomi, on Wednesday has apprised and assured before the CSO Core Committee Against Shifting of Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur, that the DC office Dimapur was never intended to shift nor shall be shifted anywhere from the present location.
This he disclosed to CSO core committee members after the later met him on Wednesday at his residence to deliberate on the issue pertaining to shifting of DC office to new complex, Chumukedima.
The Core Committee members had expressed discontentment on the lackadaisical attitude of the present dispensation in addressing the rights and demands for the people of Dimapur.
The committee also reiterated that the demands made in the “Memorandum and Ultimatum” were not made against particular community or place and further reaffirmed its stand that the DC office Dimapur should not be shifted to elsewhere in any manner.
It also conveyed to the minister that any commitment or assurance made by or on behalf of the government should be by way of an official notification and also demanded for rescinding the earlier impugned notification order No.GAB-8/DMP/63/2100 (Pt)/249, dated 07.09.2021 issued by the Principal Secretary, Home, Government of Nagaland, for shifting of ADC, Election office, Disaster Management, and other branches.
Meanwhile, the CSO Core committee has acknowledged the affirmative response given by the minister for the larger interest of the people, however, it reiterated that until the Nagaland government respond or notify them in writing , the protest against shifting of DC office shall continue indefinitely.
It may be mentioned that on October 5, Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, has clarified that in the last cabinet meeting, it had not finalized the shifting of the Dimapur DC office and in this regard, he had informed that the chief secretary of Nagaland will issue a corrigendum on Wednesday.
Patton informed that the August 10 cabinet meeting had decided to relocate only ADC, EAC and sub- treasury offices to the new complex at Chumukedima.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary, Nagaland, J. Alam, on Wednesday has issued a corrigendum in the minutes of the cabinet meeting held on August 10, 2021, with respect to the additional agenda No.3 i.e regarding shifting of Deputy Commissioner office to the new complex at Chumukedima.
Alam in the corrigendum has mentioned that the rectified minutes under the said agenda should be read as “In order to provide greater convenience to the public and with a view to decongest the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Home department shall submit a proposal for posting of ADC, EAC and Sub-Treasury Officer at the new DC complex, Chumekedima,” which is being issued with the approval of Chief Minister, Nagaland.
