Tura (Meghalaya), July 27: The Association of Democracy and Empowerment (ADE) has condemned the continued physical torture and rape of a girl from the border town of Dalu in West Garo Hills (WGH) in the Bishnupur locality of Shillong by her own uncle for over 2 years.
The NGO stated that it was informed through media sources of the incident and sought the most stringent punishment against those responsible for such ghastly acts.
“We condemn this cruel occurrence and urge the concerned authorities to take strict action against the culprits as soon as possible,” said ADE president, Dalseng B Ch Momin.
As per reports, the girl was repeatedly raped and physically tortured from 2019 to 2021 by her own uncle. She was impregnated from the rapes at least 3 times but was forced to abort the child again and again. The girl also alleged that there were four more girls still trapped with the accused family who were being treated in similar manner.
“This evil family needs to be taken to task and necessary action taken against the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. The traumatized girls should be reunited with their families and justice brought to the perpetrators,” asserted Dalseng.
