Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 21 : 2 more Covid patients succumbed to their infections in Shillong taking the death toll to 108 .
The patients have been identified as Haricharan Das of Lower New Colony area and Baby Aphinia Umsong of Mawkhap , Pynursla .
Haricharan Das aged 45 years of Lower New Colony, here , tested positive for Covid on Wednesday and was admitted to NEIGRIHMS, here on Thursday and died the same day. The cause of his death was Covid-19 with Type 1 respiratory failure with seizures and aspiration pneumonia.
Aphinia Umsong , aged 5 years of Mawkhap, Pynursla, was admitted to Ganesh Das Hospital, tested positive for the coronavirus and passed away all on Friday . The cause of her death was acute gastroenteritis with severe dehydration and Covid-19.
With this, the death rate in the state has climbed to 0.96%.
Meanwhile , 117 new cases were detected in the state today which included 53 from East Khasi Hills district (High risk- 13,Armed Force/Paramilitary Force – 15,ILI Case – 05,Health worker- 01,IGP cluster- 01,Keating cluster- 01,Lummawbah cluster- 01,Lumpyngad cluster- 01,Madanrytin cluster- 01,Mawlai Mawkynroh cluster- 01,Nongrah cluster- 01,Nongrim cluster- 01,Police personnel- 03,Pynthor cluster- 02,Returnee- 04,SARI case- 01 and Umpling cluster- 01), 47 from West Garo Hills district (Brahminpara cluster- 01,Cherangre cluster- 20,Healthworker- 01,High Risk- 23 and Lower Kawakhana cluster- 02), 08 high risk from South Garo Hills district, 05 from South West Garo Hills district (Health worker- 02 and High risk- 03), 02 ILI from East Jaintia Hills district, 01 high risk from Ri Bhoi district and 01 random sampling from West Khasi Hills district.
A total of 78 patients were declared recovered today .
